Houston Astros tabbed for MLB All-Star game

Alex Bregman enjoyed a breakout season with the Houston Astros past year, and it seemed like only a matter of time before he was selected to his first All-Star roster.

Leading the way is Jose Altuve, who became the first Astros player ever to be the leading All-Star vote-getter. The MLB-All Star game will take place on July 17 at the Nationals Park in Washington D.C. when the American League All-Star Team take on the National League All-Star Team.

Second baseman Jose Altuve, who is making his sixth All-Star appearance and fifth consecutive, was selected as a starter.

Houston will send Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman, Gerrit Cole, George Springer and Justin Verlander to the nation's capital.

Duchesses of Sussex and Cambridge to watch Serena Williams in Wimbledon final
So far this tournament Williams has progressed serenely and dropped just the one set against Camila Giorgi in the quarter-final. Ms Williams continued: "We have always supported each other, just been there for each other through a lot".

This marks the third time that the Astros have had five or more All-Stars on one squad. It's the second All-Star selection for Springer.

Bregman, who was the AL Player of the Month for June, is the sole first-time All-Star for the Astros this year.

Dodgers' manager Dave Roberts, who is managing the National League roster, will select a designated hitter for the game. The team will be managed by A.J. Hinch who is the manager for the Houston Astros.

The National League final vote players are Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Jesus Aguilar, San Francisco Giants first baseman Brandon Belt, St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter, Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Max Muncy and Washington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner.
