Croatia defender Domagoj Vida apologizes for pro-Ukraine comments

I showed why I took Liverpool to the final of the Champions League and now with the national team, and now I'm in the World Cup final.

Lovren came in for criticism in the first-half of last season, in particular when he was hooked half-an-hour into a 4-1 defeat by Tottenham at Wembley.

Lovren bounced back later in the season, helping Liverpool reach the Champions League final. Croatia is a small country with not that many people, but they are great footballers and they are going to the World Cup final.

Lovren says he remembers his mum took him and they went to the basement and can't remember how long they sat there.

"I think I have done that, without being arrogant", said Lovren, who defended Modric for not playing with his typical command against England.

Croatia will now lock horns with France in the World Cup final on July 15.

"It's something, for me, special".

While Lovren has definitely improved leaps and bounds since then, he's not even the best defender at Liverpool.
