One day after the United States charged 12 Russian military intelligence officers with hacking into Democratic campaign and state election operations in 2016, President Donald Trump suggested the Obama administration was responsible. "But it's possible we won't".

When Trump was asked about this very issue recently, he blamed his predecessor Barack Obama for letting it happen.

Mueller, appointed by the Justice Department in May 2017 to take over an investigation earlier handled by the FBI, is investigating whether Trump's campaign colluded with Russian Federation and whether the president has unlawfully sought to obstruct the Russian Federation investigation.

Trump added the European Union has "really taken advantage of us on trade" though this "does not mean that they are bad".

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas has warned U.S. President Donald Trump against making any unilateral deals with Russian Federation that come with a cost for the United States' Western allies. "I think that we would have a chance to have a very good relationship with Russian Federation and a very good relationship with President Putin".

"This is consistent with what we have been saying all along", she said.

However, Russia hoped the summit would be "the first step" in overcoming a crisis in relations, he said. "We have to assume - and if we have proof that they did it, which it sounds like we [do] - we should now spend our time protecting ourselves instead of having this witch hunt on the president", Paul continued.

"For some reason President Trump thinks that if he gets in the room with him, maybe he can warm Putin up and Putin will turn out to be a good guy - he's not".

May's plans to leave the European Union have been tested in recent days with resignations from two key figures in navigating Brexit -- Brexit Secretary David Davis and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson.
