Where will Spurs forward Kawhi Leonard be playing next season?

We knew the Celtics made a trade offer for Kawhi Leonard, but we never really knew what they offered up.

On Monday night, news surfaced that the Toronto Raptors were in the "driver's seat" among the several teams believed to be in negotiations with the San Antonio Spurs.

As a guest on TSN's SportCentre, Brian Windhorst of ESPN spoke about how the Raptors have assembled a package for San Antonio in hopes of landing Leonard while also noting that Toronto general manager Masai Ujiri is in constant contact with the Spurs (h/t Chris Walder of theScore).

Second, if he plays, it's an opportunity for Leonard to demonstrate he's fully recovered (or close to it) after missing all but nine games last season to do a nagging right quad injury - the diagnosis, timelines and subsequent treatment of which is centre stage in the Spurs-Leonard divorce proceedings. You're only eligible to receive it if you're an All-NBA player on the team that drafted you.

Kawhi Leonard has a year left on his current deal, which means he is bound to become a free agent at the end of next season.

According to a report by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Romana Shelburne, the Celtics did not offer up any of their five-best players for Leonard.

Leonard and Popovich reportedly met in San Diego days later to determine if the two sides could fix the relationship.

"If the Spurs are losing deal leverage", Wojnarowski and Shelburne write, "they aren't operating in a manner that suggests they're peddling a depreciating asset".

Interested teams may get a chance to see Leonard in action for the first time since January 2018, as the two-time NBA All-Star is reportedly "seriously considering" participating in Team USA's minicamp later in July.
