Trump, Putin sit down a bit late for closely watched summit

And I really think the world wants to see us get along.

The summit began just hours after Trump blamed the United States - and not Russian election meddling or its annexation of Crimea - for a low-point in U.S. -Russia relations.

"I don't think you'll have any 'Gee, I did it, I did it". Trump tweeted. "Much of our news media is indeed the enemy of the people and all the Dems know how to do is resist and obstruct!"

Panelists on popular Sunday night talk show "Vecher", or "Evening", said Putin goes into Monday's summit in Helsinki as the clearly stronger figure, notably coming off his hosting of the World Cup.

The Pentagon in February called for a revamp of the U.S. nuclear arsenal and development of new low-yield atomic weapons. He claimed Mr Obama "was informed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation about Russian Meddling, he said it couldn't happen, was no big deal, & did NOTHING about it".

Asked if he believed U.S. intelligence agencies, which concluded that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 election to help him defeat Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, he said he was not convinced.

"Our relationship with Russian Federation has NEVER been worse thanks to many years of US foolishness and stupidity and now, the Rigged Witch Hunt!" Relations between the press and government officials in both the USA and Russian Federation have been problematic throughout the years.

The Russian Foreign Ministry tweeted back: "We agree".

President of the United States Mr Trump will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Presidential Palace in Helsinki, Finland today (Monday, July 16).

As Trump departs the U.K., Prime Minister Theresa May surprised many by stating that the president encouraged her to sue the EU. "Let me say this, I don't see any reason why it would be".

With no ifs or buts, the Republican leader declared: "The European countries are our friends, and the Russians are not". Why did Trump take Putin's side? And the scripted cleanup pertained only to the least defensible of his comments.

The US and Russian presidents may swap compliments at their first summit in Helsinki on Monday, but they are deeply divided on issues including Syria, Ukraine and alleged Russian election-meddling.

In a joint press conference, Putin said that the leaders touched on issues including tensions on the Korean peninsula and the situation in Syria during their first summit.

On Friday, the Justice Department laid out details of what it said was a far-reaching hacking scheme in an indictment of 12 Russian agents whom it accused of trying to disrupt the USA election.

Listing the European Union before China and Russian Federation - both of which have had a more hostile relationship with the USA - would likely surprise a lot of people, Glor said.

Both presidents are obsessed with dominance and projecting machismo, but on Monday Trump waffled beside a stone-faced Putin and shrunk from confrontation when an Associated Press reporter asked Trump whether he believes USA intelligence officials or Putin. The United States does not have an extradition treaty with Russian Federation.

If Washington were to acquiesce in Russia's 2014 land-grab, this would break with decades of U.S. policy and send tremors through NATO's exposed eastern flank.

"Frankly, we have not been getting along for the last number of years". Although Finland is not a member of the alliance, it does cooperate on peacekeeping, training and security missions.

"I think we have a lot of foes". It was a little bit tough at the beginning, but it turned out to be love.

But after being asked about that by his interviewer, Trump said "certainly I'll be asking about it" although extradition is highly unlikely.
