YouTube Dark Theme begins Rolling out to Android Users

YouTube have launched their dark theme on their Android app, 4 months after they launched the feature to happy iOS users. While Google brought the dark theme for desktop users late last year and later on for iOS users earlier this year, Android users still had to wait to receive this update. Despite its massive popularity, the video service from Google had users clamoring for a dark theme for a very long time, but with no response from the technology giant. In fact, the same has already been available for iOS users though its good to seen Android too has now joined the party.

For the users who are always obsessed with a darker UI, the YouTube dark mode or dark theme has arrived for its Android app. Users should start seeing a YouTube update today with the new option to switch to dark mode. During night and evening when there is low light, the applications which make use of white or lighter colors impact the eyes greatly. But you can always go to the General Settings options to toggle it on or off at will as Redditor Absinth92 indicates. The search giant is apparently making good on that promise as dark mode has appeared on some handsets running Google's mobile operating system. Apart from that, a dark theme also helps conserve battery on smartphones, especially the ones that have OLED displays. Another newer feature is the ability to play back vertically filmed videos on the entire screen of a smartphone - without the black bars on either side.
