Carolina Panthers: Top players to watch against Buffalo Bills

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin said he was not "even trying to listen" to Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton during what appeared to be a tense pregame interaction Thursday before the teams' preseason opener. Newton followed Benjamin, but nothing positive seemed to come from their continued dialogue. Benjamin didn't want to talk to Newton and he didn't want to talk to reporters about Newton, saying: "I mean, I'm just moving on from it I guess".

Benjamin was traded last season to Buffalo after his production declined in the aftermath of an ACL injury.

Benjamin was a first-round pick by the Panthers in 2014 and played in 40 career games with them, catching 184 passes for 2,424 yards and 19 touchdowns.

"If you would've put me with any other quarterback, let's be real, you know what I'm saying?" It just felt like I wasn't in that position.

Benjamin's comments with The Athletic brought the conflict into the spotlight. When Benjamin left Newton hanging, Newton asked for privacy and had an apparent argument with his former teammate.

Benjamin had been pretty critical of the Panthers star in a recent interview.

Prior to Carolina's preseason game against Buffalo on Thursday, the two met at midfield. "I should've never went to Carolina".

Benjamin may have walked away from the tense exchange with Newton, but he was happy run into the end zone shortly thereafter.
