Bellerive eager to produce memorable PGA Championship

Bellerive eager to produce memorable PGA Championship

Davis Love III responds to a question during a news conference for the PGA Championship golf tournament at Bellerive Country Club, Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, in St. Louis. And I don't treat this as any different because it's a major.

Key statistic: Tiger Woods is the only player to win the PGA Championship back-to-back in stroke play.

Tiger Woods' practice round on August 8 reportedly saw the star performing at his best, so he could be geared up to surprise a few people this week at the 100th PGA Championship.

Woods is in one of the earlier groups on Thursday with play on the first day getting underway at 6.50am in the U.S. - or 12.50pm in the UK.

That noise? It's softened considerably during the a year ago, and the spotlight that accompanied him to Quail Hallow shines a little less brightly on Spieth in St. Louis.

"I feel like I'm close and closing in", said the world number 11.

Yet rarely do the same critiques accompany the PGA, and Haigh said that's because "my hope and I think the plan is that the players are the story. I don't want to talk", the PGA's chief championship officer said from a podium. I've done a lot of good things.

Whatever the case may be, players still don't know if this means Diablo IV is on the way. Stay awhile and listen - we have exciting updates to share about the future of Diablo .

The championship favourite is Dustin Johnson, while the three previous major winners this year will all play together. "I had won the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach and the Open Championship was at St. Andrews a month later, so I wasn't really asked a lot, other than, 'What would it be like to complete the career Grand Slam at St. Andrews?"' "It's something you have to sort of ease through and learn how to manage your time (because) you're basically playing a practice round like you're playing a in a final group on Sunday".

"It's really fun", Spieth said, "when you get a chance to play in front of family".

Streelman has been a PGA Tour pro since 2008, winning twice on tour - the 2013 Tampa Bay Championship and the 2014 Travelers Championship. Woods says he expects plenty of players on the course, and "I'm going to be one of them".

Thomas Bjorn has withdrawn on the eve of the PGA Championship after an old back injury flared up, giving first alternate Kevin Streelman a spot in the field at Bellerive.

Now, those who tried to get on the course at Bellerive are simply soaked.

A win for Rory McIlroy would not only break his slump of 14 consecutive major starts without a victory, but it would put into exclusive company with Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only other players to win this tournament at least three times in the stroke play era.
