No January Manchester United Move For Maguire

Jamie Vardy of Leicester City celebrates with Kelechi Iheanacho of Leicester City after he scored their second goal during the Premier League match between Manchester United and Leicester City at Old Trafford on August 10, 2018 in Manchester, United Kingdom.

Maguire was widely reported to be United's No.1 transfer target this summer as they attempted to bring in a central defender.

The 25-year-old, a target for Manchester United, starred as England reached the semi-finals in Russian Federation, where Puel believes his player announced himself as "one of the best" centre-halves in the world.

The 21-year-old scored the victor in the Manchester derby nearly two years ago, and is determined to hit the back of the net at United's home ground again after rediscovering his best form this pre-season.

Maguire signed from Hull last season, but an impressive World Cup has put him right in the shopping window.

"It's going to be hard away from home at Manchester United, but it's something that we're going to have to be fearless enough to try".

Emery, even if successful in the long-term, will probably take time to assert himself at a club used to only one man for 22 years. Last weekend's win at Wembley saw us produce some wonderful football, and the performance here at the Emirates was no different.

"We lost Riyad (Mahrez) he was a valuable player for us but was important to keep all our best players and have good additions for the squad".

"Harry is happy to remain with us".

But as far as Leicester are concerned, Maguire is not for sale.

The 25-year-old will be in Leicester's squad for tomorrow's Premier League opener at Old Trafford and Puel said joking: "I can confirm he is going to Manchester but only for a couple of hours".

The transfer window has officially shut, closing at 5pm on Thursday meaning the Englishman can no longer leave unless it's to a club that's overseas.

"I think he's a fantastic player, he proved it again at the World Cup after not playing so many games last season".
