Ronaldo health latest: Brazil legend in Ibiza hospital with pneumonia

Ronaldo Nazario was admitted to hospital in Ibiza to be treated for pneumonia, with the former Brazil and Real Madrid great set to be discharged on Monday.

The 41-year old is, however, said to be making good progress, with hospital sources at Misses saying they were unable to give out any information for "data protection reasons".

Ronaldo is believed to have arrived in Ibiza for a summer break a few days ago.

"Tomorrow I will be allowed to leave hospital and I will return home".

The 41-year-old World Cup victor was diagnosed after falling ill on Friday and was rushed to the Can Misses Hospital on the Spanish island of Ibiza.

A daily newspaper from the Spanish island, Diario de Ibiza, reported that he had requested a transfer to a private hospital on the same evening just before midnight.

Ronaldo, who was named FIFA's world player of the year three times prior to his retirement from football in 2011, is a regular visitor to Ibiza, where he owns a house. Two of those were the only ones that Brazil scored against Germany in the 2002 World Cup final.
