Pakistan's Imran Khan calls for more 'trustworthy' ties with U.S.

Earlier, Khan also chaired a Khyber Pakhtunwa (KP) Assembly meeting where he declared that ministers failing to satisfy goals will be replaced within three months if corrective action is not taken.

The Election Commission of Pakistan later took notice of the incident and summoned Imran Khan's apology on the matter.

Indian high commissioner to Pakistan, Ajay Bisaria, on Friday called on Imran Khan, seen as Pakistan's prime minister designate after his Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) party scooped up the largest number of seats in the 25 July national elections.

Prime Minister nominee Imran Khan shall chair Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf's (PTI) Punjab Parliamentary meeting at a local hotel in Islamabad today. Chief Election Commissioner, Sardar Raza Khan remarked that the violations regarding the sanctity of vote should be on the record.

The only constituency that the ECP has withheld the notification for is NA-53 Islamabad where it has demanded a signed apology from Imran for violating the electoral code of conduct while casting his vote during the general election 2018. "I was told to put my ballot on a table and stamp it when I asked the staffers present there about where to mark the ballot", he told the Election Commission.

"Do not use such language in the future", a four-member bench of the Pak election commission headed by the chief election commissioner warned the four leaders while accepting their apologies.

The reply further seeks an end to the case and requests the ECP to issue notification for Imran's victory from NA-53 Islamabad. He added that the media recorded footage of him without his consent while he was casting his vote, and that he had not meant to violate the law.

The PTI statement quoted Bisaria as saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's phone call to Khan had given rise to "new optimism in India that relations would move forward positively".

The 65-year-old leader had contested from five constituencies and won all of them.
