On Monday, Turkey's central bank announced measures to help that country's banks, but the Turkish lira and Turkey's stock market continued to slide.

The top US diplomat in Turkey has called for the cases against an American pastor and others held in Turkey to be resolved "without delay" and in a "fair and transparent manner".

The White House on Monday said US national security adviser John Bolton met Turkey's ambassador to the United States to discuss the detention of Brunson. His lawyer Ismail Cem Halavurt, said the court had up to seven days to rule on it.

Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said his country will boycott electronic products made in the USA amid an escalating diplomatic feud with the Trump administration that has helped trigger a currency meltdown in Turkey.

The lira has been pummelled this year by worries over Erdogan's influence over the economy and worsening relations with the US. "If they've got iPhone, there is Samsung on the other side". He did not say when the boycott would start or how it would be enforced.

Mr. Erdogan last week renewed a call for Turks to convert their dollars into the Turkish lira, to help underwite the currency's value.

Erdogan announced on Tuesday his country will boycott U.S. electronic goods.

Turkish businesses have called for tighter economic policy to ensure the country minimises the potential fallout from the currency collapse.

Turkey's president, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, is opposed to raising interest rates to cool down the economy and support the currency, and has used his recent election victory to impose his unorthodox views on the country's central bank.
