Giuliani Goes Full Orwell: ‘Truth Is Not Truth’

"Truth isn't truth", Giuliani said. "However, he didn't think I would tell them the truth!"

The exchange came after Giuliani was asked about whether the Trump team had been stalling over when the USA president may give testimony to the Mueller investigation.

"Trade is a subject on which our current president considers himself particularly expert", John Oliver said on Sunday's Last Week Tonight. "Truth isn't truth", Giuliani said. Truth isn't truth!" Giuliani said, adding: "Donald Trump says I didn't talk about Flynn with Comey. "This is going to become a bad meme".

Giuliani told CNN in May that he'd take special offence if special counsel Robert Mueller's team, which is investigating Russia's interference in the 2016 election, went after Ivanka Trump, the president's oldest daughter.

When the meeting between Kremlin-connected lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya and Donald Trump Jr., Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort first came to light, the campaign claimed it was just to discuss Russian adoptions. The New York Times reported this weekend that McGahn gave voluntary interviews totaling some 30 hours over nine months.

"Truth is truth", Todd said.

Trump says he allowed McGahn and others to testify. In addition, Brennan suggested that he had learned from media reports, since leaving his post in 2017, that there was further evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian hackers.

The fire had blackened 2300 hectares of land - much of it inaccessible - but it was downgraded to watch and act level before 8pm. The fires destroyed two homes at Bemboka and damaged one home at Nowra, it's since been confirmed.

Giuliani's acknowledgment comes two weeks after Trump admitted the meeting was to gain information that would be damaging to his Democratic opponent.

"It's somebody's version of the truth", Giuliani said.

In the Meet The Press interview, Todd attempted to ask Giuliani why Trump would be concerned about a "perjury trap" if he did not intend to lie to the Special Counsel.

Trump has continued to rail against Mueller's probe as a "witch hunt", tweeting before Giuliani's appearance Sunday to compare the investigation to Sen.

Trump's critics often suggest he might have committed obstruction of justice by firing FBI Director James Comey amid a probe into the president's election campaign allegedly colluding with Russian Federation in 2016 election interference. Comey says you did talk about it.

"The president encouraged him to testify, is happy that he did, is quite secure that there is nothing in the testimony that will hurt the president", Giuliani said.

The theme the anti-Trump camp is pushing - again, a sweet-sounding political claim that defies real-world experience - is that an honest person has nothing to fear from a prosecutor.
