Woodward Says His Anonymous Sources More Credible Than Public Denials, Trump Responds

"I am proud of my service in the Trump Administration, and I continue to support the President and his economic agenda".

While Fear has not yet been released, publisher Simon and Schuster is already planning on a 1-million-copy run of the book. The book's official release is September 11.

The book tells of an expletive-laden row between Ivanka Trump, the president's eldest daughter and senior adviser, and Steve Bannon, the former chief White House strategist.

Bob Woodward, the author of an explosive new portrayal of President Trump's White House, tells NPR that administration officials are denying his account out of "political necessity".

"Fear: Trump in the White House" hits United States bookstores on Tuesday after a weeklong buildup, with published excerpts, leaks and interviews that portray Mr Trump as dangerously erratic and uninformed.

WOODWARD: I know from my reporting that these are true. The Cohn comments are just one of the many revelations from Bob Woodward's book, "Fear".

He praised Trump's legislative accomplishments, which he said Woodward's book ignores, and said the president "invites robust discussion" from aides. "It gives a date, it gives a time, who participates, most often the president himself and what he says".

"If that person had come to me while I was working on this book or if it were someone I interviewed I would say, 'I need specifics.' The building blocks of journalism, of truth, are specific incidents". That makes it harder for readers to assess just what to believe, and it makes it possible for sources to say one thing anonymously and something else for public consumption.

Trump's economic adviser Gary Cohn removed papers from the president's desk to stop him from withdrawing from KORUS, according to Woodward's reporting.

As for Cobb's quarterback, time will tell just how badly injured his knee is. He added 32 yards and a rushing touchdown on the ground.

"I think there are people in there he can trust", Don Jr. said.

In Fear, Woodward describes the White House as a "nervous breakdown" of the executive branch.

More recently, Trump has accused Woodward of fabricating quotes and questioned whether USA libel laws could be changed so that people who believe they have been wronged would be in a better position to seek "retribution".

Later on during the interview, Woodward put Guthrie on the spot, when she questioned him about specific portions of his book.

"We're doing this to prevent World War III", Woodward quoted Mattis as telling Trump.

Like Cohn, Porter features prominently in "Fear" and is described as a gatekeeper who curtailed some of Trump's most reckless impulses.

"I think the president ought to take immediate and direct action to find out who the conspirators are", Bannon continued.

He explained: 'That doesn't mean they won't try to do something...(I'll) deal with it as it comes. There have been reports that Trump seems uninterested or unaware of the details of key foreign policy and national security efforts. "And I think we can break history", he said.

Woodward avoided using the word "lying", saying instead.
