'These phones really look wonderful, but "iPhone XS Max" is the worst product name Apple has come up with in this century, ' Twitter user @gilbert said.

Apple's event comes with the global smartphone market largely saturated, without a major catalyst for sales ahead of a likely rollout of 5G, or fifth generation, wireless networks, expected in 2019.

The new iPhone XR features Apple's first Liquid Retina Display.

For comparison, the iPhone XS Max is bigger even than the Galaxy Note 9, which spans 6.4 inches.

It will be available for pre-order starting Friday and ship Friday September 21. Folks here could be forking out as much as S$2,349 - the price of a decked out gaming computer - to get the best iteration of Apple's latest iPhone.

Also featuring an all-screen design, it actually has a larger screen than the iPhone XS, coming up to 6.1-inches.

While the base models of all three phones come with 64GB built-in storage, Apple is offering a 128GB storage mid variant as opposed to 256GB storage for iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max.
