Got $1,100? Apple Shows Off Its Most Expensive iPhone Yet

Apple plans to supersize its iPhone lineup, announcing two new models with its largest screens ever: a lower-priced device with a 6.1-inch LCD display and a pricier one with a 6.5-inch display using more advanced, OLED technology, according to people familiar with the plans. The iPhone Xc or Xr is also expected to feature an LCD screen, opposed to the OLED displays on the iPhone Xs and Xs Max. On the camera front, the XR features a single 12-megapixel wide-angle camera on the rear, with the same specifications as the XS.

In one of the biggest tech events of the year, Apple Inc unveiled iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR and Apple Watch Series 4.

The iPhone XR, on the other hand, gets a 6.1-inch screen with Liquid Retina HD display.

Apart from its screen specifications, the iPhone XR also uses the new A12 Bionic processor that the XS and XS Max also use, which boasts more cores and faster speeds than previous models.

The biggest aesthetic shakeup is that the iPhone XR will arrive in no less than six new technicolour finishes, including blue, yellow and red.

Apple has just announced the new iPhone XS and its bigger brother XS Max.

Carney to remain as Bank of England governor until 2020
The Canadian economist had been due to step down in June 2019, but will now stay on until 31 January 2020. The pound dropped 0.2% against the dollar after the extension was announced.

Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said, "iPhone Xs is packed with next-generation technologies and is a huge step forward for the future of the smartphone". It can be preordered this Friday, Sept. 14 and can be received as early as Friday, Sept. 21.

While the 6.1-inch display seems large, with the reduced bezels above and below the display the phone will be slightly smaller than a traditional "Plus" iPhone and only slightly larger than the 5.8-inch iPhone XS.

Last year, a fully tricked-out iPhone X would set you back $1,149.

The new phones include improved augmented reality features.

Among the health-related features, Apple has added a fall detection option, that will alert emergency services and family members within 60 seconds if you don't respond. A breakthrough 12MP camera system with Portrait mode, Portrait Lighting, enhanced bokeh, and all-new Depth Control. After that, you'll pay $49 to replace the battery of any old iPhone model, except for the iPhone X, whose battery replacement fee will go up to $69.

Speaking of which, let's talk about the not-so-headline-grabbing iPhone XR. It will come to India on October 19 with pre-orders opening on this date. Come launch, you'll be expected to fork over at least £1,099 for one and if you wanted the top-end configuration with 512GB of storage, be prepared to shed a hefty £1,449.
