Apple shares new ‘Illusion’ ad for iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max

Apple shares new ‘Illusion’ ad for iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max

The new line-up has followed some design cues from the last year's iPhone X, courtesy of notched display and overall design. The devices both feature a huge boost in performance provided by the new Apple designed A12 Bionic chip.

Those devices, plus the iPhone X, are no longer available through Apple's website. The new iPhones will be in stores in a week, which means we've officially entered the risky twilight zone where a handful of misinformed (or desperate) people are going to buy an iPhone X for an eye-watering amount of money, either out of ignorance or need. Additionally, the XS has a surgical grade stainless steel band and the XR features an aluminum frame.

According to CNBC's Todd Haselton, the 5.8-inch iPhone XS is "almost the best iPhone money can buy", and could be a good option for consumers who chose to pass up on buying the iPhone X when it was released past year. The phone is lacking 3D Touch and a dual camera setup.

The iPhone XS, which replaces the similar iPhone X, keeps the $999 price tag but is now in the middle of the new X-branded line, not on top.

And like a luxury vehicle, you can pay for an iPhone in smaller, less extreme monthly payments. The only other difference between the two is battery life. It's just as fast as the Xs model but has a single-lens camera. In addition to that, the cheaper model has the capability to adjust the amount of bokeh effects after the photo is taken. Having the best available smartphones is part of my job, and Apple's 5.8-inch phones are the ideal size for me. The delay, however, may very well force consumers to go for iPhone XS Max for the bigger screen.

What's impressive is how shockingly light the phone feels for a device with that much screen.

Apple Explains "Everything to Know" About iPhone Xs in 54 Seconds
This deal includes the new iPhones Xs and iPhone Xs Max announced today as well as iPhone 8 , iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X . Usually, when Apple launches the new flagship devices, the prices of previous generation phones considerably drops.

And in case you missed it, Apple has already ceased production of the iPhone X, so those wanting a full-screen iPhone but don't want to spend much should wait for the iPhone XR, coming on October 26; it'll be priced at Dh3,179 (64GB), Dh3,389 (128GB) and Dh3,809 (256GB), and comes in six colours.

Now, let's compare with the newly launched iPhone XS with the one-year-old iPhone X.

The plotting of phone screen sizes over time shows that by 2025 displays could reach a hefty 160 square centimetres. With a completely redesigned display which extends to the edges and curves at the corners, Series 4 gives you over 30 per cent larger screens than on previous models. The XR has a 6.1-inch LCD Liquid Retina Display and the XS features 5.8-inch display.

The firm didn't call out the company directly but did tweet a short clip that is clearly aimed at Apple, thanking the firm for "keeping things the same".

The fact that Apple released the iPhone Xr also does not help matters. And it says a lot about our era of digital binging that Apple will probably sell them like hot cakes.

iPhone Xs and iPhone Xs Max were announced by Apple on the stage of its Steve Jobs Theatre in Cupertino on Wednesday and both come with a score of tantalising features. It doesn't have portrait mode or portrait lighting on the front or rear cameras, it can't do Animoji or the new Memoji, and it doesn't have 2X optical zoom.
