Bernstein: Tom Thibodeau/Jimmy Butler Silliness Better Elsewhere

The news of Jimmy Butler wanting out of Minnesota shook the National Basketball Association landscape Wednesday evening, but what does the All-Star's trade request mean for the Celtics?

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN later followed up that Butler gave them a list of three preferred teams: The Brooklyn Nets, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers.

But after dealing several promising young pieces for Butler last offseason, there's pressure on Thibodeau and recoup value in a potential trade of Butler, should they indeed choose to make one.

"According to multiple league sources, coach Tom Thibodeau has no intention of letting Butler go for young, rebuilding-type pieces".

Butler, who will be finishing up the final year of his five-year, $92 million contract, is set to become a free agent next summer and has no intentions of sticking with the Timberwolves.

The Clippers, Nets, and Knicks each have significantly more flexibility, though none will realistically compete for the title this season, even if Butler joins their fold.

A year later, Markannen is an All-Rookie first teamer after averaging 15.2 points and 7.5 rebounds in 68 games, flourishing as a stretch power forward. But the organization can ship him anywhere, especially if another team can send a better trade package that will help the team.

Pyongyang has pushed for an early declaration to end the 1950-53 Korean War, which ended with an armistice agreement. More than 24,000 USA troops are stationed in South Korea, according to Department of Defense figures from 2016.

Butler caused issues during his last season with the Bulls and he is doing it again in Minnesota.

Butler bent on leaving - and accepting less than the mega-max available to him if he stays - means they could have to deal him for pennies on the dollar.

It has also been stated that Kawhi doesn't want to be a part of the celebrity culture that comes with playing at such a well-known franchise like the Los Angeles Lakers.

It's no secret the Jimmy Butler and Kyrie Irving have been searching for a way to play together.

NY is most likely going to have to find a third team in order to put together a packaged deal that will make it worthwhile for the T-Wolves.

He helped lead the Timberwolves to the NBA Playoffs past year for the first time in 13 seasons, despite missing significant time with a torn meniscus. Irving will be a free agent in 2019, and is unsure about his future with the Boston Celtics.
