Kavanaugh's accuser willing to talk to Congress, lawyer says

Donald Trump Jr. shared a meme mocking the sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in an Instagram post on Sunday, dismissing the "Dems and their usual nonsense". Early August: On the advice of her attorney Debra Katz, Ford took a polygraph test.

Initially the sexual misconduct allegation was conveyed in a private letter, without revealing Ms Ford's name.

Grassley said the standard procedure would be to conduct follow-up telephone calls with Kavanaugh and Ford, and that he meant to work with the senior Democrat on the committee, Senator Dianne Feinstein, to schedule the calls but that Democrats have refused to cooperate.

She described a high school party in the early 1980s at which a drunken Kavanaugh pinned her to a bed, attempted to pull off her clothes, and covered her mouth as she tried to scream.

The sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh first surfaced late last week, with bare bones details and without Ford's name.

"This is a completely false allegation". The panel would also likely seek testimony from Judge, Kavanaugh's friend and classmate who Ford says jumped on top of her. Judge has denied that the incident happened. "I am willing to talk to the Senate Judiciary Committee in any way the committee deems appropriate to refute this false allegation, from 36 years ago, and defend my integrity".

"All Senators, regardless of party, should insist the Federal Bureau of Investigation perform its due diligence and fully investigate the allegations as part of its review of Judge Kavanaugh's background", the senators said.

The White House indicated Monday that it is continuing to stand by Kavanaugh but that it expects Ford will offer testimony to the Judiciary Committee. The 53-year-old judge was there to meet with the White House legal team to prepare for potential interviews or questions from the Senate Judiciary Committee, a source familiar with the matter said. Her lawyer told MORNING EDITION this morning that Ford's recollection of those events is crystal-clear and that she is willing to share them with members of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

"Unfortunately, committee Republicans have only known this person's identity from news reports for less than 24 hours and known about her allegations for less than a week", Grassley said.

Maroon 5 to headline Super Bowl Halftime
Maroon 5 certainly has a number of chart-topping hits to get fans pumped for a potential performance. Considering Atlanta's rich music history, many people were baffled by the selection of Maroon 5 .

Ford said Monday that she would testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee and "do whatever it takes to get her story forth".

"She believes that if were not for the severe intoxication of Brett Kavanaugh, she would have been raped", Ms Katz told NBC.

"The Minority withheld even the anonymous allegations for six weeks, only to later decide that they were serious enough to investigate on the eve of the committee vote, after the vetting process had been completed", he added.

Grassley said in a statement that he will follow standard procedure for updating a nominee's background file, which involves follow-up calls with the parties involved, in this case, Kavanaugh and Ford. "I wish the Democrats could have done this a lot sooner, because they've had this information for many months".

At the White House, Trump said he's open to a delay in order to keep the process going and eventually confirm Kavanaugh. Eshoo gave the letter to Ranking Member Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.).

Three red-state Democrats, Sens.

"I think the allegations of Professor Ford are extremely credible", Schumer told the hosts of the show.

Republican Sens. Susan Collins and Jeff Flake suggested that the Monday hearing will be critical to determining whether they vote on the nomination, suggesting they may vote against Kavanaugh depending on how the high-stakes session goes.

The accusation, made privately in July, took on new weight over the weekend when Ford went on the record with the Washington Post.
