Klopp laughs off Salah’s lack of goals

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp believes James Milner is an example for the rest of his squad and admits that he is not surprised by the praise he has been getting this season.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a stellar first year at Anfield, scoring 44 goals in total and setting a new Premier League record of 32 goals for a 38-game campaign.

However, his tally of two goals from six matches in all competitions compares to three from half-a-dozen this time past year.

Asked if he is surprised by Milner's performance this season, Klopp said in a press conference: "It's not just this season, a year ago he had most assists in Champions League". The second PSG goal came as the result of Mo Salah giving the ball away, with Mbappe seizing on the wingers' mistake to finish past Alisson. "Obviously, you don't want to lose any one of them but if he does miss out, we'll prepare without Gabbi and Danny and still be strong enough". "It is really no problem". So, the start was good for us as a team and for him as well. Did I speak a lot about line-ups in the past?

"Dejan is close. He looks really fit [and] did a lactate test last week so fitness-wise he is - for his situation - on a really OK level. We will see. He is not for the squad for the weekend, of course, but we will see how soon we can try to involve him again".

"Dom trains today, (for the) first time after his concussion".

"No one remembers that (how he started last season)".

"Ox is a different situation but it's so nice to have Ox around", added Klopp.

After a shoulder injury in May's Champions League final, Salah had a disappointing World Cup and on his return to English football does not yet look like the player who terrorised defences, scoring nearly at will.

"He had, for sure, moments like this, but he's such a positive [person]".

"He is ready now and that's really important for us".
