Juventus midfielder Matuidi: Ronaldo dismissal was incomprehensible

Referee Felix Brych dismissed Ronaldo in the 29th minute of Valencia vs. Juventus after he collided with Jeison Murillo in an off-the-ball incident.

It was the 11th red card of Ronaldo's career, but first in the Champions League, and will see him miss Juve's next group game against Swiss side Young Boys in Turin.

On being shown the incident after the game, Juve teammate Can said: "That's supposed to be a red?"

Speaking to DAZN sports streaming network, 24-year-old Can was quoted as saying: "I just found out it (the red card) was because he pulled Murillo´s hair".

Juventus forward, Cristiano Ronaldo, is likely to serve a one-game Champions League ban, sources have told ESPN FC.

The case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control's Ethics and Disciplinary Body next Friday, Sept. 27. If you're giving that as a red card, you can be sent off for any foul.

It was a bad night in an otherwise stellar 2018 for the Portugese, who won the Champions League with Real Madrid in May and has scored 36 goals in 33 games this year. "Mostly because it was the 29th minute in the first half in a hard game, to find yourselves with 10 men for a red card, that was not right". "I'm very proud to have signed for the biggest club in the world", he said.

Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi has branded Cristiano Ronaldo's dismissal as "incomprehensible". First, it took him a lot of matches to be able to score his first goal for the club.

Former United midfielder Darren Fletcher said: "It was a soft sending-off for Ronaldo, but the letter of the law says you probably can not do that, so I think the one-match ban will probably stick".
