Manchester United vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers - Football Match Report

Mourinho was praising of Wolves but not of his own who he felt were below par.

Wolverhampton Wanderers claimed a point off another big team as they secured a 1-1 draw with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

"I think it's a fair result", Mourinho told Premier League Productions. We have the advantage of having one year working to give the base of the team in a very tough competition that is the Championship - there is no better way to come to the Premier League. They had it and we didn't.

That form has lifted United ahead of tonight's clash against Wolves, yet growing optimism is underpinned by the manager's sustained belief - first uttered in pre-season as transfer frustration grew - that this will be a tough campaign.

"I could say we were exhausted, Champions League, very bad pitch [at Young Boys of Bern] - the body suffers the different impact on an artificial rather than actual grass - not coming home after the match".

Jose Mourinho has said three straight wins has not changed his opinion that Manchester United are in for a tough season.

United have got some momentum now and their troubles seem a long time ago. "I think they could finish top half".

"But Costa, Jimenez and Jota will score more goals with a bit more care in the final third".

Romelu Lukaku, who had a poor game, hesitated in the box, failing to latch on to a half-chance five minutes from time and that was it.

"I can't explain the difference of attitude because I never had a difference of attitude. But I think we are going to be a better team".

Alexis Sanchez, an unused substitute in Bern, will come in and Mourinho believes the January signing, like the rest of his squad, has another level to go up. "An attitude. And again one team was coming to play the game of their lives, the other to relax".

'It is a situation where the players knew perfectly that they press in midfield, ' said Mourinho. This is something you learn when you're a kid in the academy.

"That's a basic law of football, you have to play with the maximum of your potential, with the maximum of your focus".

"Everyone is disappointed. We know we can do better".

Very happy to score, very happy to help my team and very happy with the result as well". He doesn't need to face more difficulties. 'I don't want to play against Milner.
