Fourth Witness Claims No Recollection of Alleged Kavanaugh Assault Against Ford

On Sunday, the New Yorker dropped a new bombshell report claiming Senate Democrats are investigating a new allegation of sexual misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

She also said she blamed herself for "drinking too much", according to The New Yorker.

"Following Dr Ford's testimony, Judge Kavanaugh will appear again before the committee", the committee said in a statement. "This is a smear, plain and simple".

"I look forward to testifying on Thursday about the truth, and defending my good name - and the reputation for character and integrity I have spent a lifetime building - against these last-minute allegations", Mr Kavanaugh said. A White House spokeswoman added in a second statement that the allegation was "designed to tear down a good man".

Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh leaves his home September 19, 2018 in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Ford says Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a party during the early 1980s, when both were high school students in suburban Washington D.C. Kavanaugh strongly denies the claim.

After stirring controversy by posting a series of tweets suggesting the woman accusing Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault misidentified her attacker, conservative strategist Ed Whelan will be taking a leave of absence from the Ethics and Public Policy Center, the organization's board announced Sunday.

After Whelan posted his theory, Blasey told The Washington Post that she knew both Kavanaugh and the man Whelan named when they were teenagers, and "socialized with them".

Today, Deborah Ramirez came forward with serious allegations of sexual misconduct by Judge Kavanaugh.

"She has agreed to move forward with a hearing even though the Committee has refused to subpoena Mark Judge", it said. Grassley also said that Ford's lawyers were attempting to dictate how the committee conducts its hearings.

A GOP Judiciary Committee investigator contacted Keyser last Tuesday, saying Keyser had been "identified" as attending that party and wanted to talk to her. Committee spokesman Taylor Foy said Keyser's name "came up" in its investigation.

Several of Kavanaugh's Yale classmates say he would never have done such a thing.

The three lawyers are not pleased with but agree to the committee's decision not to call any other witnesses.

The committee asked the friend if she would agree to have a confidential phone call with minority and majority staff so she could be asked about the allegations against Kavanaugh, according to an email exchange obtained by USA TODAY.

"I remember a penis being in front of my face", she said.

Senate Republicans hope to confirm Kavanaugh before the Supreme Court begins its new term on October 1. They could also use Republican staff attorneys on the committee.

The White House is approaching Ford's potential testimony with trepidation, nervous that an emotional performance might not just damage Kavanaugh's chances but could further energize female voters to turn out against Republicans in November.

"We were sitting in a circle", she said. Taylor Foy, a Judiciary spokesman, complained that Democrats "actively withheld information" from the Republicans. California's Diane Feinstein, the committee's top Democrat, sent a letter Sunday to Republican chairman Charles Grassley urging him to refer the new allegations to the Federal Bureau of Investigation in order to ensure "a fair, independent process that will gather all the facts". Judge Kavanaugh is being nominated to the highest court in our land.

Durbin told ABC's "This Week" that some Republicans "reached out to Democratic senators and assured them that they are looking to this as kind of a determination as to how their final vote" on Kavanaugh is cast.
