'Batwoman' Begins: First Look at Ruby Rose as the CW Superhero

Now we have our first look at Kate Kane's costumed alter ego.

Ruby Rose makes the ideal Batwoman.

Rose is set to make her first appearance as Kane in upcoming Arrow-verse crossover event "Elseworlds", which will begin later in the current Season 7 of Arrow on 9 December, and continue through The Flash and Supergirl.

The annual Arrowverse crossover event begins filming October 29 and will kick off on the CW Sunday, Dec. 9 at 8 PM ET. "Critics also accused Rose of not being a lesbian since she also refers to herself as gender-fluid". Once established, Batwoman will receive her own standalone series overseen by Greg Berlanti, and scripted by Caroline Dries. Decades later, she was rebooted as Kate Kane, an openly lesbian superhero. If the project went to series, Batwoman would be the first gay lead character in a live-action superhero TV show. "But don't call her a hero yet - in a city desperate for a savior, Kate must overcome her own demons before embracing the call to be Gotham's symbol of hope".

The character will make her debut during December's crossover event between "Arrow", "The Flash" and "Supergirl", which begins filming on Tuesday in Vancouver. Critics hailed the casting as "perfect", and Rose described the role as a "childhood dream".
