Haley Announces Resignation, Will Serve Until Year's End

Axios reported that Haley and Trump discussed her resignation last week, when she visited the White House.

"I proudly serve in this administration, and I enthusiastically support most of its decisions and the direction it is taking the country", Haley wrote.

But Trump told reporters at the White House before embarking on Marine One that, while Ivanka would be incredible in the role, he would face accusations of nepotism if he selected her.

Trump announced, "At the end of the year Nikki will be leaving". She praised both Kushner and Ivanka Trump in glowing terms for their assistance in diplomacy and world affairs. She said there were no personal reasons for her departure, she just knew it was "time to step aside".

The president said he would appoint a successor to Haley in "two or three weeks".

Heaping praise on Ms Haley, Mr Trump said she was a "very special person".

Linebacker Pernell McPhee recovered the ball and set up the offense with a good opportunity to score before the half. Among several Redskins players to leave hurt was Adrian Peterson , who got banged up a couple of times.

Haley said that the post had been an honor of a lifetime, but felt like she needed to step aside after serving six years as the governor of SC and nearly two years as the United Nations ambassador.

Haley has been viewed as a steadying presence within the turbulent administration, one of several establishment Republican appointments that helped deliver Trump's message around the globe.

"We have a number of people who would very much like to do it", he said. "And they've never seen anything like it, so there's a respect there". A recent survey by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center showed public opinion toward the United States has plummeted in many countries since Trump took office.

Haley said she doesn't "have anything set on where I'm going to go", but "for all of you that are going to ask about 2020, no, I'm not running for 2020". "It was a blessing to go into the United Nations every day with body armour", Haley said, saying her job was to defend America on the world stage. She's repeatedly insisted that she is focused on the job at hand, not future opportunities. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.).

The daughter of immigrants from India, Mrs Haley was a frequent critic of Mr Trump during his election campaign. She also often sides even more strongly with Israel than Trump, who has pushed USA policy away from its officially neutral stance on the conflict with the Palestinians.
