Nicks, Def Leppard among first-time rock hall nominees

Stevie Nicks, Def Leppard, The Cure, Radiohead and Janet Jackson all make the cut, along with Kraftwerk, Rage Against The Machine and LL Cool J.

LL Cool J and Kraftwerk were each unsuccessfully nominated four times in the past, while both MC5 and the Zombies have received three nods apiece to no avail.

Six of the nominees among the potential class of 2019 are on the ballot for the first time, and more than a few of the others have been passed over in the past.

Have you always thought Stevie Nicks deserved a spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? The 2019 induction ceremony, presented by Klipsch Audio, will be held at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on March 29 and broadcast on HBO and SiriusXM. She is nominated this time for her solo career.

WWE also announced earlier in the night that John Cena will be competing in the tournament. The four legends will meet in a tag team match at the November 2 show.

Each artist becomes eligible for nomination 25 years after their first release - a voting committee will select a shortlist, while the public are also invited to vote for the same shortlist.

For the seventh year running, fans will be able to have their say in the Fan Vote, with the five artists who receive the most votes making up a "fan's ballot" that will help determine who makes it in.

Despite its name, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has been accepting nominees from all genres, regardless of their connection to rock'n'roll. It counts as just one voice among the hundreds of other ballots.
