‘Venom’ Launches to $80 Million, ‘A Star Is Born’ Draws $42.6 Million

Even if the estimated numbers for Venom fall down, the film will easily get ahead of 2013's George Clooney starrer Gravity, which made $55.7 million over its opening weekend. Internationally Venom raked in over $125 million making Venom's total box office gain $205,230,000 after only 3 days!

Despite receiving a bad critical score (31% rotten), Venom now holds an 88% "fresh" score on Rotten Tomatoes, while "A Star Is Born" has received a 92% fresh critic score on the website. The consensus reads, "Venom's first standalone movie turns out to be like the comics character in all the wrong ways - chaotic, noisy, and in desperate need of a stronger attachment to Spider-Man".
