Samsung Galaxy A9 phone has four cameras on it

Samsung has announced its new Galaxy A9 smartphone, which the company says is the first smartphone to include four rear cameras. Thanks to this construction the A9 measures 162.5 x 77 x 7.8 mm and weighs in at 183g but should feel comfortable in the hand with its 3D Glass curved back.

Then there's a telephoto lens with 2X optical zoom and ultra wide 120 degree 8-megapixel camera which allows users to get more detail packed into their pictures. According to a leak from Evan Blass and AllAboutSamsung, they are planning to release the Galaxy A9 Star Pro with four rear cameras. Three colorways are available: Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue, and Bubblegum Pink, with the latter two presenting eye-catching Huawei-style gradient finishes. In an email to HEXUS, Samsung said that the Galaxy A9 will become available in the United Kingdom from November priced at an RRP of £549.

The Galaxy A9 comes shipped with Android Oreo 8.0 out of the box.

The highlight of course is the quad cameras on the back of the new Galaxy A9. And now today, Samsung has went a step ahead by announcing Samsung Galaxy A9 - world's first smartphone with a whopping four rear cameras. The device comes in 6GB and 8GB RAM variants with 512GB of internal storage. All of this will be backed by a 3,720mAh battery with support for Qualcomm's Quick Charge2.0 charging technology. Samsung has plonked a 6.3in FHD+ 1,080x2,220 Super AMOLED display into a rather neat and rounded chassis with gentle curves to the body but no wrap-around screen.

Samsung is yet to roll out Android 9.0 Pie update to its flagship Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus smartphones and rumours suggest that Samsung would also add AI-features exclusive to the Galaxy Note 9 along with the Android Pie upgrade.

How many cameras are enough on a smartphone? But a confirmation is still a confirmation and the Galaxy A9 does confirm that Samsung may have gone a bit overboard. The smartphone, called Galaxy A9 (2018), has been unveiled at an ongoing event in Malaysia. The handset will be available for purchase in select markets starting from early November.
