NBA to offer alternative to one-and-done college basketball route

In a major move that could significantly impact the path blue-chip prospects take to the professional level, the NBA's G League will launch a new venture in 2019 that will serve as an alternative to college basketball, the league announced Thursday. It's a clear challenge to college basketball's monopoly on straight-out-of-high school talent and gives an alternative option to the so-called "one-and-done" players - those who play one season of college basketball before going into the NBA draft.

An additional note: According to Wojnarowski, the NBA has informed teams there will be no changes allowing high school players to enter the NBA Draft before 2022.

As reported by ESPN, the NBA's developmental G-League is creating a development pathway for the single season many elite recruits spend between high school graduation and their eligibility for the NBA Draft. It will be interesting to see how this impacts everyone, from the NCAA to the National Basketball Association to the G League, involved.

"We believe this is an answer to that call", Turner told ESPN. Article X of the National Basketball Association collective bargaining agreement already covers this for all draft-eligible American prospects: If a player renders services under contract for any non-NBA professional team prior to January 1, he is automatically placed in the next draft.

Apple’s iPhone XR Is Now Officially Available to Preorder
It'll be available in 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB storage options as well as black, blue, yellow, white, coral, and red color options. The iPhone XR sports a 6.1-inch screen and will be available with three storage capacity options: 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB.

Players will be eligible to sign a contract as long as they turn 18 by September 15 before the season in which they will play. With the G League's "Select Contracts", they are able to have an agent and dive into the advertising game without being penalized.

NBA G League Select Contracts are designed for year-round professional growth and will include opportunities for basketball development, life skills mentorship and academic scholarship.

The NCAA adopted a sweeping series of policy and rules changes Wednesday that it hopes will clean up college basketball, which has been engulfed by an FBI investigation and other corruption over the past two years.

The G League is very much the minor leagues, full of early-connecting flights, long bus rides and small gyms, while big-time colleges are still afforded the luxuries of private jets and full fervent crowds.
