Trump heads to Texas to give boost to 'Lyin' Ted'

The president is expected to throw his support behind Senator Ted Cruz, who's facing off against Democrat Beto O'Rourke in next month's midterm elections.

Trump infamously insulted the looks of Cruz's wife Heidi, vaguely suggested Cruz's father had played a role in John F. Kennedy's assassination and tagged him with the nickname "Lyin' Ted". "I think it's more like wave bye-bye to the blue". Ted Cruz, R-Texas, now says he will stay for the full six years. I actually like him a lot and he's a very smart guy. "He's, I call him Teexas Ted", the president said on the White House South Lawn.

Closing in on Election Day, Trump tweeted Monday morning: "Big Night In Texas!"

"I think they're neutral", said former Cruz campaign aide Rick Tyler. The Toyota Center holds about 18,000 people. A large police presence is also around the area. He could energize Democratic foes as well as the Republicans he wants to rouse to the polls.

Search For Jayme Closs Enters 2nd Week; Sheriff Asks For 2,000 Volunteers
Barron County's sheriff is once again putting out a call for volunteers in the search for missing and endangered teen Jayme Closs. Investigators have said they haven't recovered a weapon and that it's likely Jayme witnessed her parents' murders.

"I honestly couldn't point to anything", she continued, "I'm just trying to - you know, I'm not as educated as I would like to be".

Kavanaugh was a reliable applause line for Republicans over the weekend, but in a sign of how much political oxygen the Senate race has consumed, O'Rourke appeared to be even more energizing as Cruz and his surrogates pummeled the congressman on the stump.

While covering a campaign event for Rep. Beto O'Rourke, the Democratic nominee for Senate in Texas, ABC reporter Paula Faris marveled at his popularity. If Trump can turn crowd sizes into votes in 2018 like he did in 2016, Ted Cruz will be fine.
