Ariana Grande Chokes Up During Performance on 'Ellen'

Ariana Grande kept it very real during her Wednesday performance on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show"!

Inspired by her favorite movie The First Wives Club, the pop superstar was joined by the song's co-writers, Victoria Monét and Tayla Parx. She even took the time to learn some rather tight choreography - which is what caused the near-disaster - with her backing singers.

The single is Grande processing through past relationships, including her recently-ended engagement to "SNL" star Pete Davidson, thanking them for what they taught her and preparing her for whatever's next.

At one point, she climbed on top of a chair and almost fell on her way down. So half an hour before the latest episode of SNL started, Grande put her new single out into the world, and it nearly immediately became a meme to rival "me voting in 2016 vs.me voting today".

"This one gon" last / "Cause her name is Ari / And I'm so good with that", she sang without missing a note, adding a self-deprecating chuckle. However, the singer's rep has now told ET Canada the release had nothing to do with the "One Last Time" hitmaker.

The injury kept McDougald out for most of the second half, leaving second-year Delano Hill to take over the reins. Badgley kicked in two games when Sturgis could not play due to a quadriceps injury.

Grande, however, wanted to ensure her listeners and followers that "thank u, next" was not meant to be a clap-back or revenge song.

But, just as the song says, Grande knows how to handle the pain.

Watch her full performance on "Ellen" above.

We loved how she and her girls simply marched up the stairs and off the set at the end of the number giving great attitude and girl power, but DeGeneres was on the stage waiting to chat with her. "I thought we were supposed to exit".
