India beat Windies in thriller to complete T20 series clean sweep

With the conclusion of the match, India completed a flawless whitewash of West Indies winning the 3-match T20I series 3-0, 5-match ODI series 3-1 and 2-match Test series 2-0.

Needing five runs in seven balls, Dhawan and Manish Pandey scored four runs in first three balls but then a dot ball and Dhawan's wicket made the match interesting which could have been finished much earlier.

Then off the penultimate ball of the match and with only one run needed, Dhawan launched Allen straight into the hands of Kieron Pollard at long-on to give the Windies a chance to tie the contest, where a super over would be required to decide a victor. Even the Caribbean bowlers have struggled to contain the Indian batsmen, leaking plenty of runs and letting themselves down in the end.

Shikhar Dhawan smashed a career-best 92 in his 62-ball innings and forged a 130-run partnership with Rishab Pant (58) for the third wicket to take India home in the last ball of the innings.

But just when it seemed India will finish off the proceedings in style, Pant was dismissed in the 19th over.

Allen cramped the batsman with a ball close to the body that Pandey managed to prod back past the bowler, whose despairing dive only managed to push it out of reach of his own fielder running in from mid-wicket, allowing India to seal the win. West Indies lose their first wicket in 6.1 overs.

Earlier Pooran put on a key 87-run unbeaten stand with Darren Bravo, who made 43, to give the tourists a competitive total.

Chahal got Hope on his very first delivery and then cut short Hetmyer's brisk knock to check the opposition surge.

Reeling after two crushing defeats, the West Indies showed the stomach to fight as they batted with a lot more objective here.Pooran, who has been on the fringes for a while and did well in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), showed why he is rated highly, batting with a lot of enterprise. He wasn't afraid to go for his shots and also employed the switch-hit on a few occasions, including hammering a six off Chahal. Denesh Ramdin tried to play a steady inning but his threat was removed by Washington Sundar. Just when things seemed good in the middle, Ramdin played a poor shot and was clean bowled by Washington Sundar in the 13th over when the scoreboard was reading 94/3.
