NFL Relocates Chiefs vs Rams From Mexico City To L.A.

Monday night's Chiefs-Rams game is being moved from Mexico City to Los Angeles because of field conditions, the league announced Tuesday.

"If Monday night's game is played in Mexico City, a number of Rams and Chiefs players are now strongly considering not playing in that game on that messy surface, per sources".

The league's decision was made in consultation with the NFLPA and followed a meeting and a field inspection Tuesday afternoon by "NFL and club field experts as well as local and independent outside experts". 'Until very recently, we had no major concerns.

According to Adam Schefter, the Mexico City field is "a mess" right now and could be considered a safety hazard for players.

Two recent events apparently damaged the hybrid playing surface, a combination of grass and synthetic filler.

Mrs May appeared to be addressing those fears by telling City officials Monday that there "will not be an agreement at any cost". This was always going to be an extremely hard , extremely complex negotiation, but we are nearly within touching distance now.

It's been an extremely hard week in the Los Angeles area, with first the mass shooting in Thousand Oaks that left 12 people dead and then massive wildfires that have left two people dead and have destroyed tons of homes and have been burning since last week.

According to National Football League rules, the home team in an global game - in this case, Los Angeles - must keep its home stadium available in the event the contest has to be moved. Because of that, the Rams have kept the L.A. Coliseum available.

Azteca also hosted a regular season game on October 2, 2005, when the Arizona Cardinals defeated the San Francisco 49ers 31-14.

The field in Mexico City is reportedly in bad shape and the league is anxious about the playing surface. The team had been practicing at altitude in Colorado in preparation for Monday's game in Mexico City.
