Trump said "billions of dollars are given each year, with so many lives lost, all because of gross mismanagement of the forests". "Remedy now, or no more Fed payments!" he said.

Fire has killed nine people in Northern California and possibly two in Southern California.

Los Angeles County sheriff's Chief John Benedict said two people have been found dead but provided no details on the deaths. There are still 35 people missing.

"The Los Angeles County Fire Department PIO said at 6:52 p.m. Friday, "...very significant number of homes in the operational area damaged or destroyed by fire", and that it had burned approximately 35,000 acres.

Thousands more residents have now been ordered to evacuate from several more towns to the west of Thousand Oaks, including Calabasas immediately south of Highway 101 and Malibu on the coast, as well as from the western edge of Los Angeles.

President Donald Trump has declared emergency state funds for Butte, Ventura and Los Angeles counties.

A quarter of a million people have been forced from their homes statewide as the Camp Fire in the north and two other major fires - Woolsey and Hill - in Southern California burned this weekend.

Just 100 miles north of Paradise, the sixth most destructive wildfire in California history hit in July and August and was also one of the earliest. People reported seeing much of the community go up in flames, including homes, supermarkets, businesses, restaurants, schools and a retirement center.

The Camp fire, centered on the Northern California town of Paradise, has incinerated 90,000 acres and almost 7,000 structures, the San Fransisco Chronicle reported.

Three were still in their pens when the adjacent barn caught fire, and Tricia Fultz just had to open the pens, burning her hands and hoping for the best.

Shannen Doherty, who'd been out of town when the fire broke out, said online that friends staying at her Malibu house evacuated safely with her dogs.

When the order came to evacuate, it was like the entire town of 27,000 residents made a decision to leave at once, they said.

"The preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were located in vehicles that were overcome by the Camp Fire", said a statement, adding that they had yet to be identified.

Two people were arrested in looting incidents Friday during the evacuations, according to Ventura County sheriff's Sgt. Eric Buschow.

Local power authorities have told state officials an outage occurred near the spot where the fire erupted, The Sacramento Bee reported, but there is still no official cause of the Camp blaze.

Lady Gaga, Martin Sheen and Kim Kardashian West were among the celebrities who joined thousands of others in evacuating from the affluent coastal city that is as well-known as its residents. Officials have said 150 homes had burned, and the number would rise.

Kelly Lee called shelters looking for her husband's 93-year-old grandmother, Dorothy Herrera, who was last heard from Thursday morning.

The flames also burned inland through hills and canyons dotted with modest homes, reached into the corner of the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles, and stretched into suburbs like Thousand Oaks, a city of 130,000 people that just a few days ago saw 12 people killed in a mass shooting at a country music bar.

The blaze started Thursday night and by Friday had pushed toward Malibu and the Pacific Ocean, prompting evacuations in Malibu, Calabasas, Agoura Hills and other nearby areas. CNN also reported that there have been 5 casualties as a result of the fire.
