UK police make arrest in hunt for ‘Friends’ lookalike thief

Police hunting for a suspected thief who looks like Friends actor David Schwimmer have made an arrest in London.

The Blackpool police had then taken a screen grab from the security camera footage that showed the beer thief, and posted it on its Facebook page, asking for people to identify him and help them find him if possible.

The actor David Schwimmer, who played Ross Geller in the hit USA sitcom, even posted a spoof video showing him carrying a similar crate of beer.

He captioned the video: 'Officers, I swear it wasn't me. As you can see, I was in NY.

'To the hardworking Blackpool Police, good luck with the investigation'.

London's Metropolitan Police Department tweeted back, "Happy to help", adding a ideal hashtag: #IllBeThereForYou.

Today, Lancashire Police posted an update on the investigation into the alleged theft in the town on 20 September.

Ballack: Europa League Should Not Be Priority for Chelsea
We have a lot of players who can play in this position so we can rotate a lot. "But three matches is a very short time, so I don't know.

The force announced Monday's arrest on Twitter, thanking Schwimmer for his support.

London Metropolitan police arrested the 36-year-old man in Southall on suspicion of theft, Blackpool police tweeted Tuesday.

Blackpool Police's original post, which has since been deleted, had been swamped with replies highlighting the suspect's resemblance to Ross.

Internet commenters had way too much fun when cops mentioned the similarity between suspect and celebrity in October, and they made a slew of references to the Friends theme song.

Aaron Milburn added: 'Please approach with caution.

Even the police joined in on the joke. "We're so sorry it has to be this way".
